Originally from Rochefort, Louise is trained as a political scientist and loves to undertake projects for her city!
Owner and designer of La Bastide, Louise juggles her various activities and now spends a significant portion of her time serving you at La Bastide. A true fan of conviviality and an epicurean, Louise ensures the quality of the products and the service, and so far, it’s been a successful endeavor!
Florent
A food enthusiast, Florent is our chef dedicated to bringing you the best tapas, antipasti, and meals for lunch and dinner. With limitless creativity and a love for authentic flavors, he crafts each dish with care and precision to awaken your taste buds. Florent is the culinary soul of our establishment.
Casimir
Casimir, the bartender at La Bastide! With years of experience in the hospitality industry, he is a true cornerstone of our establishment. He will handle your wildest requests to delight your taste buds! Smiling, professional, and full of jokes, you can count on him to chat with you at the bar!
About La Bastide...
The building was originally intended for residential use and had been abandoned for years. Louise saw the potential to turn it into a hospitality establishment. At the end of 2023, the contracts were signed, and the renovation work began on March 1st. It took us 6 months to renovate this beautiful building to achieve the result you see today. With the support of her friends and family, Louise did everything possible to welcome you as soon as possible.
At the end of the 19th century, the building was the restaurant of the Hôtel Moderne, located at the corner of Avenue d'Alost and Rue Sauvenière (right across from the current restaurant). At that time, the train used to pass in front of the restaurant. It later became the residence of Madame Anderssen and her husband, a Swedish painter, before being converted into two separate residences and eventually falling into disrepair.
The building located just behind the restaurant, called "La Bastidon," was formerly the laundry of the Hôtel Moderne. It had a notably sloped floor and an old concrete basin that served as a tub for the hotel's laundry. On the stone walls surrounding the garden, you can still find metal rings on the street side that were used to tie up horses loaded with laundry to be washed.
Why« La Bastide » ?
In Provence, a bastide refers to a estate surrounded by stone walls. Louise has been spending her summer vacations in Provence with her family since her early childhood, and with the garden surrounded by stone walls, it was obvious for us to name this place accordingly! Before finding the name, Louise already envisioned creating a place that evokes a sense of vacation. Perfect match!
